Tips for Applying to

Announced Positions (USAJobs)

This information is provided as a courtesy only. There is no warranty expressed or implied. USAJobs is the official website for seeking federal employment.

Applications for positions announced on USAJobs at Robins Air Force Base are NOT accepted continuously. All vacancies are announced to the general public as they occur. Information about positions open to the general public may be obtained by calling a 24-hour recording at (478) 926-5661. Information about positions restricted to reinstatement or transfer eligible applicants only may be obtained by calling (478) 926-6666. All job listings are posted at the Robins AFB Employment Office, Building 1524, located adjacent to the Museum of Aviation. Forms necessary to apply for civil service positions may be obtained from this office from 7:30 a.m.- 4:00, Monday - Friday.

You may submit the application package electronically via the USAJobs website, via US Postal Service (US Mail), or hand delivered to the WR-ALC employment office. Read the announcement carefully and follow all instructions. You must submit the complete application package by midnight on the date the announcement closes.

Your application will ONLY be used for the specific job announcement for which you are applying. If you are interested in another job announcement, you must submit a separate application package for each announcement. Again, read the announcement carefully and follow all instructions.

All positions at WR-ALC require proof of US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Some travel may be required.

APPLICATION FORMS

The following information is provided as a courtesy to assist you in your application for employment. When applying for employment, remember that missing, incomplete, or inaccurate information may disqualify you from consideration.

Typically, every applicant (regardless if you are a current or former Federal employee) must provide at least three forms to be considered for employment: transcript (for positions requiring degree), occupational questionnaire (OPM Form 1203-FX), and current resume. Some announcements may require additional information. Follow the instructions in the USAJobs announcement carefully.

Transcript (if required)

The transcript can be a photocopy, unofficial, or just a listing of the all courses. However, the transcript must show: all colleges or universities attended, semester/quarter hours earned, grades and grade point average (GPA), and degree received and date conferred. For international educational institutions, please read the job announcement carefully to receive credit. Please note: If selected, an official transcript will be required at the time of employment.

Occupational Questionnaire - OPM Form 1203-FX

Be sure to answer all questions. Some are occupational assessment eligibility questions. Applicants who do not indicate eligibility on "screen-out" questions are automatically considered ineligible and will not be reviewed.

For Question 1 (screen out question for basic qualification), if you select the letter "F", you will be disqualified for consideration. You should answer the question appropriately even if this is the appropriate answer.

For Question 2 (screen out question for specialized experience), if you select the letter "B", you will be disqualified for consideration. You should answer the question appropriately even if this is the appropriate answer.

Again, be sure to answer all questions.

Resume'

Any format is acceptable. However, it should include: personal information, education, work experience, and other qualifications. Here is an example of a resume that is too vague and how to make it better.

IMPORTANT: Be sure your resume clearly supports your answers to the application questions. There should be experience to support your answers. Answers that do not have experience indicated on the resume may not be counted.

Supplemental Required Documentation

Read the announcement carefully for other documentation requirements, such as Veteran's Preference, Military Spouse Preference, Proof of Education, and Proof of licensure or certification. Again, missing documentation or an incomplete application may disqualify you from consideration.

If you have further questions, please contact the WR-ALC employment office.
