Co-Op and Summer Interns
1. Science and Engineering Summer Intern Students must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering (not technology) degree program. Those selected will work full-time during the summer only. We have established a Co-Op agreement with the following engineering schools:
Opportunities may be for students in electrical, computer, mechanical, industrial, or aerospace engineering (not technology) programs. Positions may be available in avionics, electronic warfare, combat support systems, and other aircraft and weapon systems in support of the United States Air Force. Students will work 40 hour weeks, nominally business hours Monday to Friday with paid federal holidays. Students will leave federal service at the end of the summer term. Pay is approximately $14 per hour. This is an exciting opportunity to gain real-world engineering experience, learn about civilian career opportunities in federal service, and earn a competitive salary. For more information, contact Kristin Trussell, Robins AFB Employment Office, 478-327-8661 or toll-free 800-342-0570. Or, email resume to ENGINEER@ROBINSJOBS.COM. NOTE: SMART is a scholarship program for current college students in Science, Mathematics, or Engineering. It is sponsored by the Department of Defense.
2. Business and Information Technology Co-Ops Robins AFB has established GS Co-Op agreements with:
Participating areas:
Students interested in this program must be either a junior or senior enrolled in a business-related program at one of the above schools, have and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA. Students must be recommended by their school. Students will work part-time, working no less than 20 and no more than 32 hours per week on an established and approved schedule. Keeping with the intent of the Co-Op Program, work schedules cannot interfere with the student's school schedule. Supervisor of students working above 20 hours per week are responsible for ensuring the work schedules are not interfering with the student's progress at school. If a student attends a campus outside of the Robins AFB commuting area, he/she has the option of alternating work periods (work full-time one semester and attend school full-time the next semester; while in school the student would be a leave without pay (LWOP) status). Work periods and school periods will be scheduled consecutively to be completed within 36 months after initial appointment into the Student Career Experience Program. For more information about this Co-Op Program, contact Quintel Brinson, Robins AFB Employment Office, 478-327-9002 or toll-free 800-342-0570.
3. Aircraft Maintenance & Industrial Co-Ops Robins AFB currently has a technical cooperative partnership with the following schools:
Students interested in this program must be enrolled for at least six months at one of these schools either in Sheetmetal, Aircraft (Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) - 12 months), Machinist, or Electronics. Those selected to participate in the Co-Op Program will alternate full-time work with full-time school in six-month increments for a 2-year period, or 2.5-year period if A&P. There is no guarantee of permanent employment upon graduation, but students will be eligible for this option with the consideration of current employment needs. If you are interested in participating in one of the above Co-Op opportunities, please contact the Placement Office at one of the schools listed. For more information, contact Margaret Willis, Robins AFB Employment Office at 478-327-9637 or toll-free 800-342-0570.
